PATTA - AN DJ AND A MC TURN THE DUTCH STREETWEAR SCENE UPSIDE DOWN
Patta opened its doors in 2004 right in the centre of Amsterdam and became the centre of attention by turning the Dutch streetwear scene upside down. Edson Sabajo and Guillaume "Gee" Schmidt originally started the business to provide themselves, their friends and family with sneakers and streetwear. What began as a hobby has now developed into a flourishing business and a recognizable brand. Both founders are no strangers to the Dutch hip-hop scene. For example, the founders already knew each other in the 90s and early 2000s, when Edson was DJ and Gee Host/MC. Through these common interests, a strong friendship developed over the years and later a sustainable business partnership. At the beginning of Patta the logo was used to produce a small collection of t-shirts for friends, family and loyal customers. As the demand was higher than expected, more T-shirts were produced and as a result the house brand of the same name was finally born. In the beginning the small collection was sold in 5 selected European stores, but the number of stores has now grown to more than 20 globally respected streetwear shops.
