STÜSSY - THE SURF BRAND FROM ORANGE COUNTRY, CALIFORNIA
Surfing, skating, Malibu Beach, hot nights and endless boardwalks - all this is Orange County, California. Inspired and influenced by the typical, casual lifestyle in Claifornia, Stüssy was founded in Orange County in 1980 as an original surf brand and has played an important role in the streetwear and hip-hop scene ever since. The name of the brand is based on its founder, Shawn Stussy, whose Marker Sketch logo still runs through Stüssy designs today. The passionate surfer Shawn Stussy built boards for friends and relatives in the 80s and someday came up with the idea to sign the boards with his last name - and so the iconic Stüssy logo was born. Shawn expanded his product range to include t-shirts and swim shorts, which were extremely popular with the community around Laguna Beach. Within a very short time, Stüssy was able to establish a good reputation throughout the region and sells the products from his trunk. It was only through working with his close friend Frank Sinatra (not "the" Frank Sinatra) that the products were sold more professionally in local stores. Starting with trunk sales, Stüssy now owns more than 60 stores and distributes products in the United States, Europe, Asia and Oceania.
